Reading for collaboration

As a Maths team we have been looking at ways of improving our communication and collaboration skills. Last year we read a book together called Death by Meeting. It helped us to analyse how we were meeting and suggested ways that this could be improved. Now, rather than having a maths team meeting every three weeks, we have individual goal setting times, quick chats when required and google docs to comment and provide feedback on issues.
Next, we are looking at how we operate as a team. We’ve just started reading The five dysfunctions of a team. Lecioni suggests that conflict can be a good thing as this helps to force clarity and closure. I’m looking forward to seeing how this will impact our collective work.
